| Our trip out, from Berau to Nabucco, was a wordless journey into darkness so we missed out on the sightseeing possibilities. On the way back from Sangalaki we had a much better time, leaving mid morning and arriving early in the afternoon. It's about 120km so even at speed it takes plenty of time but once you've left the open sea the banks of the river are fascinating. Note for Nabucco Resort - the 4+ hour journey doesn't drag nearly so badly when you aren't watching the crew desparately trying (and failing) to get a torch working! |
