Up UK Diving » Lundy May 08 A

We jumped at the chance to join Sally's trip to Lundy, arriving fresh from Holland in time for a primer course on local marine ID. The course was hosted by Ilfracombe SAC who were a great bunch and we stayed at the Ocean backpackers which was right next door.

North Devon is a great place to visit and Ilfracombe has a fine natural harbour - where we caught Obession II for our diving. Lundy was foggy which limited our options but we were fourtunate not to be involved in the helicopter rescue we witnessed while we were anchored for lunch.

Day 1 Brazen Ward and Quarry Bay
Our first days diving on Lundy was pretty murky, the water was full of little brown globs but packed with local knowledge from the ID course we saw loads of stuff - especially slugs of course!

The second day was very foggy and the underwater conditions were only 'average' but now we had our eyes in there seemed to be even more wildlife than the first.

As a bonus here's a gallery of odd items that crop up on dives and although they aren't eyecatching alone make up important parts of the underwater scenery.
