We've finished the first leg of our trip and so
here's a small selection of pictures from Malaysian Borneo. In fact
we dived Sipadan and Kapalai, islands some 20 miles off shore,
staying at the latter. The diving was very varied; Sipadan is well
known for turtles and huge shoals of barracuda and jacks brought in
by the spectacular reefs over a 1000m+ drop. Kapalai is now in vogue
as a 'macro' diving resort and offers obscure stuff like frogfish,
pipefish and nudibranches.
Malaysia was a revelation, we
were overwhelmed with the efficiency and speed of all the flights
and arrangements. Indonesia seems a bit more threatening but we got
through the 6 processes of immigration and to our transport in 15
minutes from touching down - far from the laughable shambles of
Sharm!
We're just resting near Manado, Indonesia before
taking a boat around some of the sites of Northern Sulawesi, also a
mixture of 'macro' and 'classic' reef diving.
